This Spring, I anticipate seeing a lot of purples and polka dots at the dog park. While the combination is bold, it is a proud statement if worn right.
In human color psychology, purple is associated with royalty and nobility. That's also the case in Lukie Lukie Hua Hua society. In fact, our traditional dress uniforms were Tyrian Purple, and it's been suggested they were the inspiration for Alexander the Great's ceremonial dress.
Realizing the potential for intimidation inherent when such a noble creature wears this royal color, I like to pair it with playful polka dots.
Polka dots were popularized in the late-nineteenth century as a means for Lukie-Huas to blend in and go unnoticed while on fact-finding missions in central European dance halls (coincidentally, it is rumored that Johann Strauss's most famous polka tunes were actually composed by his pet Chihuahua, Snaggle-Buttons).
As you can see, this particular number is as well-suited for hiding in clean laundry as it is on a Sunday drive.
It'll look equally good hiking Runyon Canyon...
...or digging holes at the Westminster dog park.
The vintage 2009 piece I wear here is cotton and nylon with chrome and black detailing.
